New Years Joshua Tree Day Trip

What percent of Southern Californians would you estimate own and RV or trailer? Three percent? Five percent? More?

On the Sunday after New Years, Kaycee and I took a day trip to Joshua Tree. Just a short hour and forty five drive from home in Buena Park.

We left at about 6 am and got to the park early enough to go on some hikes without seeing hardly anyone. Barker Dam trail, Hidden Valley Trail and Skull Rock.

We ate our Trader Joe’s salads at Jumbo Rock campground which was closed for the season and exited the park out the Cottonwood Springs exit, stopping at the Cholla Cactus Garden on the way.

It wouldn’t be Southern California without a little bit of traffic on the way home. Lots of people coming home from the desert in their RVs and hitching their trailers so of course, we had to make a stop at Hadley’s for a banana date shake to make the trip home a little more enjoyable.

Here are a few snaps from the day trip.
